How Good360 Handles Bulk Donations & LTL Shipping

What are the requirements to receive BULK donations?

Good360 facilitates the distribution of large-scale donations, known as Bulk donations, to its network of nonprofit organizations. These donations consist of pallets of various goods, including items like clothing, beauty products, toys, and home goods, and are intended for nonprofits that have the infrastructure to store and manage them. Bulk donations are a vital way for nonprofits to receive and distribute large quantities of essential items to those in need.

To qualify to receive Bulk donations, nonprofits must meet the following criteria:

  • Membership with Good360: Only active members of Good360 are eligible to receive bulk donations.
  • Storage capabilities: Nonprofits must have a valid business address with the ability to store the items, including access to heavy equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks and/or loading docks.
  • Additional vetting: Some donations may require further verification after an order is placed, particularly for larger or more valuable shipments.

Availability of Bulk Donations

Good360 maintains a regular supply of BULK donations from its corporate partners, including Amazon and other retailers. Available items may include:

  • Softlines (clothing, shoes, etc.)
  • Mixed goods (various assortment of items)
  • Beauty & cosmetics
  • Home goods
  • Toys & crafts
  • Baby care items

Nonprofits can view available bulk donations via the Good360 online catalog. Since inventory levels fluctuate frequently, organizations are encouraged to check back regularly for new items.

Minimum Orders and Discounts

To make bulk donations as accessible as possible, Good360 has set minimum order quantities:

  • Amazon bulk donations: A minimum order of two pallets is required. Nonprofits that order four or more pallets automatically receive a 20% discount at checkout.
  • Other bulk donations: The minimum order is one pallet. Larger orders may qualify for additional discounts based on the number of pallets ordered.

There are also ordering limits in place to ensure fair distribution:

  • Nonprofits may only order up to 12 pallets or gaylords within a 15-day period
  • Some items may have a limit on how many pallets can be ordered per SKU

Shipping and Logistics

Good360 ships bulk donations using Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) Freight, a method that consolidates shipments with other orders in the region to optimize delivery. Key details include:

  • LTL freight: Suitable for shipments between one and ten pallets or more than ten cartons of goods.
  • Unloading requirements: A loading dock, forklift, or pallet jack is required to unload and move the goods at the delivery site. Liftgate service is available for an additional fee to lower pallets from the truck bed to ground level.
  • Shipping from multiple warehouses: Some orders, especially those with Amazon BULK pallets, may ship from different warehouses. As a result, delivery times may vary.

Financial and Documentation Requirements

Some BULK donations may require nonprofits to provide financial documentation, especially for larger or high-value orders. This ensures proper vetting and compliance with Good360’s donation policies.
